To measure a quilt you should multiply the length x width of your quilt top to obtain the number of ‘square inches’: eg 90 x 80 inches = 7,200 sq inches.
Divide the square inches by 144 to get square feet: eg 7,200 / 144 = 50 square feet.
Then multiple the number of square feet by the price of stitching required: eg continuous line would be 50 sq ft x $300 = $150.
Alternatively, come in for a free consultation and we’ll measure it for you!
The time will depend on the complexity of your project, our current workload, and other factors.
We will give you an estimate of completion at your consultation, however we will be in touch to let you know when your quilt is ready.
If there are key dates that you need your quilt completed by, then let us know.
Your quilt top should be free of embellishments (buttons, pins, charms etc). These can be added after the quilting process is finished.
Quilt tops and bottoms (if supplied by you) should be flat and square with all selvedges and loose threads removed. This helps to avoid puckering.
Poorly prepared quilt tops may take longer, incur extra charges, and may not produce the perfect result.
There are different types of batting and which one is best for your project depends on a few considerations:
use
washability
colour
warmth
We can discuss the best batting for your project with you in your consultation.
Your backing fabric needs to be at least 3 inches bigger than your quilt top on all sides.
Your batting/wadding needs to be at least 3 inches bigger than your quilt top on all sides.
